Zhongke Zhonghuan, together with Zhongguancun Energy Storage Industry Technology Alliance, led a seminar on four alliance standards related to lithium battery safety

On October 31, 2019, the Zhongguancun Energy Storage Industry Technology Alliance organized a seminar on four alliance standards related to lithium battery safety at Guoxuan University in Hefei, Anhui. Nearly 100 enterprise representatives from more than 50 units, including Shenyang Fire Research Institute of the Ministry of Emergency Management, Tianjin Fire Research Institute, Shanghai Fire Research Institute, University of Science and Technology of China, Guoxuan High tech, Ningde Times, Huawei, Sunshine Power, and Anhui Zhongke Zhonghuan, participated in the conference. The meeting was chaired by the Secretary General of the Alliance, Liu Wei.
This event has received strong support from Guoxuan High Tech and Zhongke Zhonghuan. More than 80 industry colleagues attended the venue to hold in-depth exchanges and discussions on the following four standards:
1. Introduction to the revision of "Fire Warning and Fire Protection Devices for Electrochemical Energy Storage Systems";
2. Discussion on the initial draft of "Fire Suppression Device for Electrochemical Energy Storage System";
3. Discussion on the initial draft of the General Test Method for Fire Hazard Classification of Lithium ion Batteries;
4. Discussion on Fire Safety Technical Conditions for Lithium ion Battery Production and Storage Sites.
Secretary General Liu Wei stated that the development of electrochemical energy storage has been in China for many years, and currently many standards are still blank. After being shortlisted for the National Standards Committee's group standard pilot program in 2018, the alliance organized a series of standard revision work and received strong support from member enterprises, research institutes, including fire departments and the University of Science and Technology of China Fire Laboratory. In 2018 and 2019, the alliance approved 14 standard projects, including electrochemical energy storage, compressed air energy storage, flywheel energy storage, heat storage, etc. Currently, 4 standards have been released, and the remaining standard projects are steadily progressing. We would like to express our special thanks to the host units, Anhui Hefei Guoxuan High Tech and Anhui Zhongke Zhonghuan, for their strong support of the conference work held in Hefei, Anhui.
Huang Zhangxi, Vice President of Guoxuan High Tech, welcomed the experts and business representatives who participated in the conference. The energy storage power plant accidents that have occurred in the past two years have had a huge negative impact on the development of the energy storage industry, and it is urgent to address safety hazards. The four standards drafted by the alliance not only fill the gap in safety standards, but also provide reference for the development of the industry, the formulation of subsequent national and industry standards.

Director Zhang of Shenyang Fire Station presided over the discussion on three standards: "Fire Warning and Fire Protection Devices for Electrochemical Energy Storage Systems", "Fire Suppression Devices for Electrochemical Energy Storage Systems", and "General Test Methods for Fire Hazard Grading of Lithium ion Batteries". The "Fire Warning and Fire Protection Devices for Electrochemical Energy Storage Systems" is a standard approved by the Alliance in 2018. It has been discussed in two meetings and publicly solicited opinions in two rounds. Currently, it is close to being finalized and submitted for review. The "Electrochemical Energy Storage System Fire Suppression Device" and "General Test Method for Fire Hazard Grading of Lithium ion Batteries" are newly established standards by the Alliance in 2019. This meeting is the first public centralized discussion. The attending experts also conducted discussions on the scope, performance requirements, technical parameters, testing conditions, etc. of the standards, and put forward revision suggestions.
The project manager of Zhongke Zhonghuan is introducing the initial draft of the standard "Fire Suppression Device for Electrochemical Energy Storage System"
As one of the attending representatives, Zhongke Zhonghuan has also made some achievements in energy storage. Its developed electrochemical energy storage monitoring and early warning fire protection system has the advantages of early warning, fixed-point spraying, fire extinguishing agent insulation and environmental protection, atmospheric pressure storage, continuous cooling, etc., and has won the "2019 China Energy Storage Industry Best Intelligent Equipment Supplier Award". As the host, participating in the formulation of standards related to electrochemical energy storage aims to provide support and services for the smooth holding of the conference, actively promote the healthy development of the electrochemical energy storage industry, and solve the industry's development concerns.

The fire protection technology conditions for battery production and storage are highly specialized and difficult, which is an important concern for many battery manufacturers, warehouses, and design institutes.
