【Zhongke Zhonghuan】New energy vehicle battery safety national standard issued, focusing on the "actions and thoughts" of Zhongke Zhonghuan
Release Date:2020-05-15 Source: View count:331
On May 13, 2020, three mandatory national standards, GB 18384-2020 "Safety Requirements for Power Batteries for Electric Vehicles", GB 30381-2020 "Safety Requirements for Electric Vehicles", and GB 38032-2020 "Safety Requirements for Electric Vehicles", organized and formulated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, were approved and released by the State Administration for Market Regulation and the National Standardization Administration. They will be implemented from January 1, 2021.
Electric vehicle safety is the focus of consumer concern and the fundamental guarantee for the sustainable and healthy development of the new energy vehicle industry. The three mandatory national standards are the first batch of mandatory national standards in the field of electric vehicles in China, which have been fully coordinated with international standards and regulations, further improving and optimizing the safety technical requirements for electric vehicle vehicles and power battery products.
1. Battery 'thermal runaway' is the 'culprit' of self ignition in new energy vehicles
As an important lever for China's automobile industry to achieve "overtaking on curves", China's new energy vehicles have set a rare global market growth rate, especially new energy buses, which have achieved large-scale, mass production, and market application nationwide. But it cannot be avoided that behind the great prosperity of new energy vehicles, problems and hidden concerns still exist.
According to incomplete statistics, since April 30, 2020, there have been over 10 incidents of new energy vehicle fires and self ignition accidents across the country. The investigation into the cause of the accident mostly attributes the problem to one point, which is the fire caused by the thermal runaway of the power battery.
According to the definition in the "Safety Requirements for Lithium ion Power Batteries for Electric Vehicles", thermal runaway refers to the phenomenon of overheating, ignition, and explosion caused by the rapid change in the temperature rise rate of the battery itself due to the chain reaction of heat release from individual battery cells.
Dr. Wang Fang, a professor level senior engineer and the main drafter of the "Safety Requirements for Power Batteries for Electric Vehicles," said, "In general, the ultimate form of fire in electric vehicles is thermal runaway of the battery. The comprehensive safety technology and evaluation of the battery is a systematic engineering. The battery is an electrochemical carrier, and its state is constantly changing throughout its entire life cycle. The possibility of thermal runaway also exists forever
2. The safety of the driving battery system requires government enterprise collaboration and joint efforts
The healthy development of any industry requires collective wisdom and effort, and the safety of new energy vehicle lithium batteries is even more so. Whether it is national policy guidance or industry expert judgments, various signs indicate that the safety protection of new energy vehicle lithium batteries is a systematic project. In addition to the "top-level design" mentioned by industry regulatory authorities, the technological upgrading and product innovation of new energy vehicle lithium battery security supporting suppliers are also the key to preventing new energy vehicles before they occur.
Zhongke Zhonghuan, which has long been committed to the development and design of smart city public safety systems, provides intelligent and efficient solutions for the industry.
The Zhongke Zhonghuan perfluorohexane fire suppression device achieves precise, efficient, continuous, and friendly safety protection and fire suppression for power batteries through a continuous cooling suppression mechanism. The device relies on high-sensitivity sensors to monitor in real time the temperature changes, smoke, special gases, and other early fire phenomena caused by internal short circuits, overcharging and discharging, and external short circuits in each power battery box of the vehicle. It uses a power battery thermal control model to comprehensively judge the combustion stage, and sends information to the display module and manual control module through the car CAN bus to achieve early fire perception, intelligent judgment, and early intervention. In emergency situations, the system can automatically initiate fire extinguishing to maximize the protection of the personal and property safety of drivers and passengers.
The Zhongke Zhonghuan device has passed the type inspection of the National Fixed Fire Extinguishing System and Refractory Component Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, and the monitoring and protective device of the lithium-ion battery (box) has successively obtained the fire product technical appraisal certificate from the Fire Product Qualification Assessment Center of the Ministry of Public Security.

Safety has always been the core keyword of the public transportation industry, and Zhongke Zhonghuan has always followed the corporate purpose of "customer-centric". In response to the actual needs of public transportation security, we research and provide efficient, intelligent, and reliable solutions. At the same time, we work together with research institutes and relevant institutions to draw a development path that can be used as a reference for China's new energy vehicle lithium battery security.
